A very fine Edwardian / Late Victorian Diamond & Platinum (950 tested), Naval Crown Brooch. Circa 1900

Designed in the Corona Navalis style (a military decoration in Ancient Rome). first presented by Emperor Octavian to Agrippa, the Admiral who famously won several Naval Victorys.. The British Navy adopted this style of Naval Crown as a classical symbol of maritime victory, leadership, and gallantry at sea. British Heralds and College of Arms adopted this symbol into Naval Heraldry during the 18th Century, to honour distinguished Commanders, hence the inclusion in Lord Nelson's in 1805.  .

This beautiful brooch is set with 43 Old European Cut, Transition Cut and Single Cut  Diamonds, accompanied by an independent Gemmologist's report assessing the Diamonds (measured in their mounts), as approximately 1.20 Carats (total), of G - H Colour and SI1 - Si2 Clarity.
